Ricky Ponting names player who will earn lot of money in IPL 2018 and it’s not Ben Stokes.  England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is currently out of England’s Ashes squad after the Bristol brawl incident, made headlines earlier this year after he was bought by Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) for a whopping Rs 14.5 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While a lot of water has passed under the bridge since Stokes’ signing, former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has named a player who will earn a million dollars ahead of next edition of IPL. Also Read: Yuvraj warned me not to even look at Ritika when I first met her, reveals Rohit SharmaRicky Ponting

Ponting, who has been a player and mentor for three-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians, said that he feels Chris Lynn is one batsman who will earn a million dollars ahead of next season.

The swashbuckling right-hander made a whirlwind return to the Big Bash League (BBL),  where he smashed 25 runs from just nine balls, which included a massive six off the third ball he faced against the Sydney Thunder at the Gabba on Wednesday night.

Despite being one of the most dangerous hitters across the globe, Lynn has appeared in just 12 IPL games. In IPL 2017, he played seven games for KKR, at an impressive strike rate of 180.

It remains to be seen whether KKR will retain Lynn as one of the three players ahead of the 11th edition.

“An IPL Franchise is eligible to secure up to five players by virtue of a combination of Player Retention (Pre Player Auction) and Right to Match (RTM) (During the Player Auction),” BCCI Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary had said in a statement after the meeting.

The IPL Governing Council also hiked the salary budget of the franchises from Rs 66 crore to Rs 80 crore for the next year’s auction, tentatively set for February. For 2019 and 2020, the cap will be increased to Rs 82 and Rs 85 crore respectively.
